Tear Stained Eyes (Summary)

Welcome to my new blog! My name is Amanda, I am 14 years old, homeschooled, and Catholic. I have found it to be extremely difficult to find good fiction Catholic novels for teens today, for this reason, I am working on a novel myself. The (working) title is Tear Stained Eyes, although that may be changed in the future.

Summary:
Catherine, a homeschooled Catholic teenager, wishes to fit in and have friends, but sometimes quantity isn't as good as quality. Not to mention how difficult it is to find friends in this materialistic world of overindulged teenagers. Catherine develops a crush on one boy, but seeing as she is only fourteen years old, and her parent's forbid her to date, it seems as though her fairy tale has an unhappy ending. When her friend undergoes a devastating trauma related to her boyfriend, Catherine realizes the reason for her parent's decision about dating and respects it, but it becomes harder than ever when she is tempted to date behind her parent's back.

It offers a great suspenseful plot along with a good moral. Some of this story has been based on my true life experiences, common difficulties within modern teenager's lives.

I have sent a manuscript to a publisher, and I am anxiously awaiting a reply (which should come within a few months). The novel is not finished, but it will definitely be completed within a year.

Thank you for visiting my blog! Stay tuned for more updates! :-]

Thanks so much Katie! Yeah, I think any teenager, Catholic or not, can somehow relate to the problems Catherine faces in the book. Thanks again for commenting! :)

Welcome, Amanda! (I found your blog via a comment on The Shadow of the Bear Movie Blog) I'm also homeschooled, though I went to public school for part of my grade school years. That sounds like a neat story - and I can TOTALLY relate. Except about the crush part. I never really went through any drama of that sort (of course there were proposals and love notes in the first grade).

I look forward to reading more of your blog!

Amanda,
Your book sounds captivating, the plot, believeable, and your mission, commendable.
God bless you and your goals!

Thank you so much Delaney and oraetlabora!

Delaney: I also went to a public and private school, both with bad experiences. 1st grade? Wow. It's scary how younger kids are influenced so much by their older siblings in today's world. I saw that when I went to public school too. I'm really excited for the Shadow of the Bear movie! :D

Thanks Amazon, Snicker Whips, & Nikki! I just, so far, sent it to one publisher; Sophia Institute Press. I felt really confident sending my work to them, and they are a great publishing company! My favorite author, Regina Doman, is an editor for that company, and she is beyond amazing. She's helped me quite a bit through email with my writing. :)

Dear Amanda,
Your book sounds great! Definitely believable. I've thought about writing a book and actually have a few paragraphs written, but after a while I realized I didn't have a good enough plot, so for now I'm rethinking it. :) It's so cool that Regina Doman is helping you! From everything I hear she's a great author, although sadly I have yet to read any of the Fairy Tale Novels. I *have* read Angel In the Waters though; such a sweet picture book! Anyways, that is awesome. Good luck with the publishers!
